DJI has just confirmed a new energy solution designed for creators, field shooters, and travel pilots - the DJI Power 1000 Mini - set to be unveiled on January 6, 2026, at 20:00 Beijing Time (approximately 7:00 AM PT / 10:00 AM ET). The tagline the brand is using hints at the philosophy behind the product: “small volume, great power.”
This mini-format power station promises to bring portable energy solutions into a more compact, efficient form - perfect for drone pilots and outdoor creators who need reliable power on the go without hauling big, heavy units around. Speaking from experience owning a DJI Power 1000, I can personally share how invaluable it is for charging equipment on construction sites, weddings, events, and even for drone adventures abroad - a compact solution like the Mini could make all of this even easier.
Launch Date: January 6, 2026.
Focus: Delivering high-capacity power in a smaller, more transportable package - ideal for creators, filmmakers, drone pilots, and outdoor professionals.
Tagline Meaning: Literally translating to “small size, big power,” the product seems targeted at users who need performance without bulk.
Unlike DJI’s standard Power 1000 - a robust 1024 Wh portable power station with extensive outputs and capability to fast-charge drones and other gear - the Mini version aims to strike a balance between performance and portability for creators who move fast and need lighter setups.
To understand what the Power 1000 Mini could be capable of, it helps to look at DJI’s current Power 1000 model
Capacity: ~1024 Wh LiFePO₄ battery.
Outputs: AC, USB-C (up to 140 W), USB-A, and SDC fast-charge for drones.
Stable Output: 2200 W continuous with peaks up to ~2600 W.
Fast Recharge: Fully recharge in ~70 minutes under ideal conditions.
Quiet Operation: ~23 dB — quieter than typical portable generators.
Use Cases: On-location power for drones, laptops, lights, cameras, phones, and more.
With these specs in mind, the Mini variant is expected to retain strong performance but in a smaller, lighter body 0 likely with slightly reduced capacity compared to the full Power 1000 - making it ideal for field use where every kilogram matters.
If you’re regularly out in the field:
Charge Quick: A portable power station can fast-charge multiple drone batteries without needing mains power.
Keep Rolling: Shoot longer without worrying about socket availability or adapters.
Flexible Workflows: Power laptops, cameras, lights, and drones from one central unit.
For wedding shooters, travel filmmakers, and outdoor pilots, the Power 1000 Mini could be the missing link between big professional kit and lightweight portability.
📦 How It Could Fit in Your Kit
Here’s how I’d imagine the Mini finding a place in drone workflows:
🎯 Day Tirps / Local Shoots
Compact enough to carry in a kit bag and charge all your essentials while you fly.
🎥 Multi-Device Setups
Use it to power monitors, lighting, laptops and drone batteries without swapping adapters.
🌄 Remote Missions
Perfect for off-grid shoots, time-lapses, landscape capture, and cinematic work where wall power doesn’t exist.
The DJI Power 1000 Mini - confirmed for announcement in early 2026 - looks to be DJI’s next step in portable power. For drone creators like us, that means more freedom, less bulk, and smarter workflow power management.
Stay tuned - once the official specs and photos drop, I’ll update this post with full hands-on insight and first impressions.
