DJI Goggles 2 - Unlock FCC Mode

03 December 2023

In FCC mode, there are 7 available channels in the 20MHz mode and 3 available channels in the 40MHz mode.

If your Goggles 2 are initially configured with CE mode (to adhere to European regulations), they will have limitations on output power (only 25mW) and channels. Specifically, there is only 1 available channel in the 40MHz mode and 3 available channels in the 20MHz mode.

You can enable higher output power (resulting in increased range and signal penetration) and more channels (allowing for more simultaneous pilots) through the "FCC hack," provided it complies with the regulations in your flying location. This involves placing a file in the goggles. Note that this is not the same as the naco text file previously used with the Vista, although the process is similar.

To switch to FCC mode, follow the same method used for the DJI Avata drone. Download the file "ham_cfg_support" from this link: [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jRs0a_6ZRa3ZLs2DSaLHTlFNqP2Q2XBi/view?usp=sharing]. Unzip the file to the root directory of the SD card and insert it into the goggles.

To verify if you are in FCC mode, navigate to Settings => Transmission => Channel Mode, switch to Manual, and under the 40MHz bandwidth, you should observe 3 channels available in FCC mode. In CE mode, only 1 channel will be visible.

It's important to note that once set, FCC mode is permanent. However, you can revert to CE mode from FCC mode by performing a factory reset on the headset, accessible through the menu Settings / About.
